Soldering iron (60W+), desoldering pump, multimeter, safety glasses. hys3c210cs power supply patched
Result: The power supply remains silent and stable from 0.5A to 15A load. No more audible whine. The original thermistor (NTC) circuit triggered the fan only at 50°C, but hysteresis was poor, causing the fan to cycle on/off every 30 seconds. The patched revision replaces the fixed resistor in the fan driver circuit (R47 – originally 10kΩ) with a 15kΩ resistor , effectively raising the turn-on threshold to 60°C and widening the hysteresis window. Highly recommended
Result: Ripple noise drops from 120mV to under 30mV. Lifespan extends from 2 years to 7+ years in continuous operation. The original TL431-based feedback circuit had a gain margin issue at light loads. The patched version modifies resistors R34 and C21 on the daughterboard. Specifically, a 22pF ceramic capacitor is added in parallel with the optocoupler’s phototransistor side. This damps the loop response. Have you performed the HYS3C210CS patch yourself
Do not settle for the original, failure-prone revision. When searching for your next 12V/15A power supply, make "patched" the minimum requirement. Your equipment—and your sanity—will thank you.
