Mikrotik Change Software Id Link Guide

MikroTik RouterOS is a powerhouse in the networking world, offering enterprise-grade features at a fraction of the cost. However, one of the most confusing aspects for new and even intermediate users is the Software ID and its relationship to licensing.

If you have ever searched for the phrase you are likely facing a specific problem: You have a paid license (Level 4, 5, or 6) tied to one installation, and you need to move it to new hardware, or your Software ID changed unexpectedly after an update.

/system license print Copy the software-id (e.g., 4F82-A761 ).

On the new machine, open terminal:

Log into the old RouterOS via WinBox or SSH. Navigate to System > License . Click "Renew License" – wait. If that fails, click "Sell License" (this does not sell it; it unbinds it from the hardware). You just need the license to show "Not Registered."
