This is the palette cleanser of the anthology. After the heaviness of death and adultery, Scent of Rain is a light, coming-of-old-age story that feels like a warm hug.
The writing deserves special praise. Every filmmaker understood the assignment: tell a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end in under 25 minutes. There is no fat on these bones. Every dialogue pushes the narrative forward or deepens character. Upon its release in February 2021, Zindagi in Short received largely positive reviews. Adjustment critiques the concept of "compromise" in Indian matrimony. The climax is devastatingly realistic—the wife doesn't leave; she adjusts. She weaponizes her silence. It is a sad but honest look at how financial dependency and social stigma trap people in loveless contracts. Mohit Raina is suitably frustrating, but Lushin Dubey is the soul of the piece, conveying decades of disappointment in a single sideways glance.
